 Dive Scuba Herradura Andalusia Almunecar

Although the Mediterranean Sea is not comparable to the Red Sea or the Maldives, there are still some interesting dive sites. The Andalusian coast benefits from nutrient rich Atlantic water that flows into the Mediterranean Sea via the Strait of Gibraltar. This provides a perfect environment for a rich aquatic flora and fauna.

La Herradura is the top dive spot on the Andalusian mediterranean coast. This nature reserve is home to a large number of exciting dive sites of varying difficulty. On top of the natural flora and fauna with lobsters, octopuses, eels, and congers there are also man-made attractions such as two sunken cars that octopuses use as breeding grounds for her cubs. "Cerro Gordo" offers drop-offs and caves to explore. And with a little luck you can meet more exotic marine life such as sunfish, particularly at the "Marina del Este" dive spot.

However, tdiving in Andalusia is heavily dependent on weather conditions. Because of the influxof Atlantic water, the visibility may decrease significantly in poor conditions, especially west of Malaga. Furthermore, currents can be very strong at times. Thus some diving experience is helpful to truly enjoy your dives.

In any case you should make sure to establish contacts with local divers familiar with the local conditions, or book guided tours at one of the local dive operators. Most dive centers also offer a comprehensive range of courses for beginners and advanced divers.
